Image Capture on MacBook Pro M3 not detecting Canon TR8620

Cannon TR8620/MacOS 26.2 MacBook ProM3-Image Capture application does not list/see the TR8620. It does see my Epson printer/scanner and prints and scans as expected. Both Printers show under System Settings>Printers& Scanners. Have downloaded the most recent software from the Cannon website for this printer and print functions perform as expected. In addition Image Capture on my IMac does see the 8620 and prints and scans as expected-running all the same software as the MacBook.

There may be some driver missing from the installation on your MBPro. Did you install both Canon PRINT *and* the Canon "IJ Scan Utility" on your MBPro?

Vuescan works with the Canon TR8620 without needing any drivers on Macs. You can download & try it out for free. The subscription is well worth it, Vuescan is the all-around best scanning app I have ever used, and I have used it over many generations of Macs and macOS.

Because there is probably something different in the installation on the iMac vs. your M3 MBPro.

What version of macOS is on each Mac?
What version of the Canon drivers & apps is on each Mac?
How is the TR8620 connected to each Mac? Same cable?
Other potential differences ...

No TWAIN support is listed in the Canon PIXMA TR8620 tech specs. That can hinder Image Capture.

This multi-function printer does support AirPrint, so see if things work after setting up that path.

Check for and load any available newer firmware, as well. Page 182:

Thank you Mr Hoffman for your quick response. AirPrint prints as expected from my iPhone. Printer FW is up to date. Once again, my iMac with the same OS, 26.2, Image Capture sees the 8620 and scans as expected. Help please.

So to confirm, your printer firmware is current, and your Mac is using AirPrint?
