iMac 27" 2020 MacOS ventura upgrade and Canon Pixma MX870 Printer

After using migration assistant to transfer from late 2009 iMac Safari my Canon Pixma MX870 printer will not scan. In Printers & Scanners, Canon MX870 series selected, "Open" Scanner feeds me a pop-up "Canon IJScanner1" is damaged and can't be opened. Showing in Finder; > NAME: Canon IJScanner1, DATE Modified: Feb 21 2015, Size: 808kb, KIND: Application. The file is located in; > Macintosh HD>Library>Image>Capture>Devices>Canon IJScanner1.

The printer currently works fine as a printer.

Any thoughts.

Looking on Canon's site, I don't see scanner drivers ("ICA Driver") for any version of OS newer than El Capitain. A notice on the main support page says that "PIXMA MX870 has been retired. Product support is no longer available. Driver and content updates are not being made."

VueScan might let you keep using the scanner. VueScan Standard costs $50 and is what I bought to keep using the scanner portion of my all-in-one printer (a different model).

Aside: Canon didn't show any printer drivers for versions of macOS later than El Capitan, and I didn't see the MX870 on Apple's list of printers that support AirPrint. But fortunately, printing seems to be working for you.
