iPhone 17 Pro Max. Siri will not read messages while phone is locked. Siri says phone must be unlocked first.

My new iPhone 17 Pro Max will not let Siri read my messages aloud to me when I ask on this new phone. I’ve checked settings and everything I know to check and still, Siri will not read messages without saying I need to unlock the phone, which is ridiculous because hands-free is the reason I’m asking, so is there any way to fix this all my older devices iPads and iPhones will still read messages aloud when I say “Hey Siri”, Do I have any new messages? Or Hey Siri read my messages. The response is always unlock your phone. how can I fix this? All my other devices still will do this message reading aloud function. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
