iO2 26.2 is a mess, please fix

My iPad (air, 5th gen) is a total mess after installing the new iOS (26.2). Just one example: I am now unable to pull PDF files into Speechify. If I export from Zotero to Speechify, nothing happens in Speechify and Zotero freezes. If I export to a file and then import to Speechify, nothing happens and Speechify freezes. (I have tried this with multiple files so it's not a corrupt file problem.) Notion app freezes and needs to be restarted. All three of these apps have worked perfectly well until now.


So, my question is: does Apple (I hope?) plan to release either an option to reinstall the previous functional OS, or else a fixed 26.2? Because right now my iPad is pretty much useless to me. Which, at the beginning of the semester, is really not a good thing.

Rolling-back to an earlier version of iOS/iPadOS is not possible.


All System Updates are digitally signed by Apple - and can only be installed whilst the digital signatures remain valid. After release of a new iOS/iPadOS version, the immediately preceding version continues to be digitally signed by Apple - however, usually within a few days, Apple will revoke the digital certificate with which the earlier version is signed.


Perhaps consider that iOS/iPadOS updates include both functional and essential security updates. Restoring an earlier version of the OS would undermine the security of your device and your personal data.


If Apps no longer work properly following update to a more recent version of the OS, you’ll need to seek assistance from the related App Developer - as only they can resolve issues with their App. As with all computer Operating Systems, Apps often require update by the App Developer to maintain compatibility with the hosting OS.
