After the latest update I am unable to get emoji’s when texting a word on my iPad….aka if I type happy a Smile emoji usually comes up. Any idea for fixes? Thank you.

Sometimes we just need to change our way of working when new features or updates are introduced:
Eg: You may need to change to the emoji keyboard to see a word's emoji appear above the keyboard.
Apple Support's article for iPadOS 26: Add emoji, Memoji, and stickers with the iPad keyboard - Apple Support
Eg: says:
"As you type, you can use the iPad keyboard to enter emoji, Memoji, and stickers to express yourself in messages and documents.
Add an emoji, Memoji, or sticker
Use the emoji keyboard to replace text and bring words to life.
Tap a text field, then tap
or
to switch to the emoji keyboard.
Tip: As you use the keyboard to type, words that can be replaced with emoji appear above the keyboard; tap the emoji to apply it in place of the text."
