Search in Apple Music on macOS 26.2 Tahoe is not working any more

After upgrading to the actual verison of Apple Music (Ex-iTunes) Version 1.6.2.57 on macOS 26.2 on a MacBook Pro M4 Max (16") the Search function is no useable any more.

When I want to search on local tracks or the iTunes Store I cant write any word, artist, track or anything else because after the first character the input was deleted. When I try writing faster somtimes i can type 2-3 characters that then were also deleted automatically.

Whats the problem? Thanks for help.

If you haven't seen it yet:

Apple Support's online article: Search for music in Music on Mac - Apple Support may be helpful:

Eg: says:

"Using Search in Music, you can quickly find music from your favourite categories, view your recent search history and search Apple Music, your library or the iTunes Store.

Even if you don’t subscribe to Apple Music, you can search the catalogue, preview music and videos, and listen to Apple Music radio stations for free. (You must sign in to your Apple Account.)

Tip: When you want to search, simply describe what you’re looking for using natural language,

such as “hit songs from movies” or “nostalgic songs from the ’90s”.

Seems you must be signed in to the Apple Music app with your Apple Account derails in order to use the search field. Perhaps the solution is simply to sign in first ? (Note: You don't have to have a subscription.)

That first top linked article above has other tips to help:

  • "Search Apple Music for music
  • Search your library for music
  • Search the iTunes Store for music
  • Find music from various categories"

_______

Also says: "Various types of results appear in the main Music window — playlists, featured artists, songs and more.

To start a new search, click , then enter a new search term"

Else: If you have been signed in all along, yet can not enter text in the search field:

You may want to send feedback to reach those who work on the Music software to let them know:
