Factory Restore (To wipe and clear the old data).

Hello. How do I restore (factory reset/wipe data) on my old iPod Nano 6th Generation before I give it away without it affecting all the songs on my new iPod Nano 6th Generation and iTunes Library?

Is it probable that I will lose them if I don't back them up?

I believe that the point Neil was making was that as a separate task, which has nothing to do with restoring the iPod nano, you should be backing up your iTunes library.

Computers fail, so it's in your interests to back up all the music that you own, to a separate external drive, so that if your anything happens to your computer you have the back up available to recover that music and rebuild your library. An iPod is not a backup for your library. In fact, it's the other way round; your iTunes library is the backup for your iPod.
