Safari not appearing in Location Services on MacBook Pro

Working on a MacBook Pro, 16 inch 2021. Recently upgraded to Tahoe 26.2. Trying to enable location services for Safari, but Safari does not appear as an app in the Location Services pane under Privacy and Security. Looking at Websites>Location under Safari preferences, it shows that Location is allowed for discussions.apple.com (the only window open at present) and lists a few Configured Websites. Chrome has no trouble finding my location, but I much prefer working in Safari. Anyone have a suggestion as to how to fix this?

I had exactly the same problem on my iMac M3 Tahoe 26.2 connected via Ethernet.

Find My Mac wasn’t working, and the location services in Safari and Apple Maps weren’t working either.

I tried the procedure suggested by GlenMohr in this post

Find My Mac doesn't work on MacBook Pro after MacOS26 upgrade

I also tried reinstalling the OS in Recovery Mode (without deleting apps and data, of course).

Then I had an intuition: I turned on WiFi and, magically, location started working again!

Now my iMac is connected to my network in both ways, but priority is given to the cable because in my case it is faster.

Apparently, Wi-Fi provides location information that the cable does not.

I bet many people who have this issue are connected via Ethernet...

For Safari I do not see it listed in System Settings...

In the Safari.app >Settings change to allow..(?)

That's just it! Why is Safari not on the list? According to this Apple Support article dated October 2025, it should be there but it's not.

This still doesn't address why I can't add permissions for Google Maps. When I have Google Maps open on my desktop it shows in Safari>Settings>Location>Websites as google.com (marked Ask), but still tells me that it doesn't have permission when I ask it to find me on the map.

I'm on wifi only, no ethernet.

Wi-Fi triangulation requires that it can see WiFi access points that have known locations on Apple’s database. That data base gets updated through location data collected from iPhones and iPads that have GPS or cellular locations.

You should start a separate question to try to resolve your problem which is different than this post.
