Why are apps not visible in App Store on macOS and iOS?

With both macOS and iOS, it is oddly common for an app on my device to not be visible in the App Store.

  • Of course, when searching, I spell the app exactly as shown on the screen or desktop (even punctuation, if the name has some).
  • I try slightly different forms (such as making a plural into a singular, that kind of thing)
  • Google or the developer's site has a link to it on the App Store.
  • It happens far too often for it to be something simple, such as the app is no longer available.
  • Clicking my name in the App Store, which shows a screen of stuff I have purchased, sometimes does not have it there, either (yes, I know if I did not get it on the App Store, it would not be there).

So in summary, I can usually get to my app on the App Store via Google or the developer's website. But is there any good reason why this is occurring? And again, I went to stress this happens a lot.

iPhone 14, iOS 26

Have you changed country settings recently? A web search may reveal an app link that's for another country. Not all apps are available in all countries. If you do a search for an app using your App Store app, it will only search for what's available in your country.

Name a few apps you've searched in the app store.
