what AI says

"To unlock your iPhone's SIM PIN, go to Settings > Cellular > SIM PIN, enter your current PIN to turn it off if desired, or contact your carrier if you've forgotten it or entered it wrong too many times (which requires a PUK code). The SIM PIN is different from your phone's passcode, and you might need your carrier's default PIN if you've never set one.

To Turn Off or Change Your SIM PIN (If you know it)

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Cellular (or Mobile Data).
  3. Tap SIM PIN (or tap the specific number for Dual SIM/eSIM).
  4. Toggle the switch to turn it off or on, or change the PIN.
  5. Enter the current SIM PIN when prompted and tap Done

If You Forgot Your SIM PIN (or entered it wrong too many times)

  • Enter the PUK Code: If you've entered the wrong SIM PIN too many times (usually 3), your SIM will lock, and you'll need a PUK (Personal Unblocking Key).
  • Contact Your Carrier: Call your mobile network provider (e.g., AT&T, T-Mobile, Vodafone) to get the PUK code or a new SIM card. The PUK code can often be found in your online account or by contacting customer service.
  • Default PIN: If you've never set one, your carrier's default PIN might work (check your plan docs).

Important Notes

  • Don't Guess: Entering the wrong PIN too many times will permanently lock your SIM card, requiring a new one.
  • Carrier Specific: The SIM PIN and PUK are controlled by your carrier, not Apple.
