Can an iPad mini 5 backup be used on a recent iPad mini?
I have :
IMAC late 2013 with OS Catalina 10.15.7
Mini ipad 5
I made a backup of mini ipad 5 with ITUNES
I will buy a recent mini ipad.
Can I use the backup without problems?

If your iPad mini5 remains functional, you don't need to rely upon your iTunes backup, but can simply transfer directly from your old to new device.

“Transfer” is rather a misnomer. In reality, your data and setup is merely cloned to the new device. Nothing is moved or removed from the original device.
The alternative is to restore either an iCloud or iTunes backup to the new device:

An iPad backup can be restored to any device that has the same or more recent version of iPadOS than the device that created (or last updated) the backup. Your iPad mini5 was capable of update to iPadOS 18.7.x, but does not support iPadOS 26 or later. Any current model iPad will support the most recent version of iPadOS, at the time of writing, this being iPadOS 26.2. A new iPad being set-up for the first time will update to the most recent version.
