Is it normal for Apple authorized service provider to change iPad wallpaper during AppleCare+ inspection?

Apple Authorized Service Provider changes my iPad's wallpaper in inspection process of purchasing AppleCare+. Is this normal process?

And those wallpapers are from my wallpaper list and Photo app.

They said they have to change wallpaper few times and take photo to send to Apple. It is inspection process.

They also brought my iPad to backroom for technician to inspect while I have to be outside.

From my view point, I don't think they should not do this. Photo app is customers' sensitive data. Inspection should be on hardware level only.

This happens in applecare+ purchasing.
My ipad is almost 1 year old. So the only way to purchase applecare is at apple store or provider. So that technician can inspect the device if it is ok and valid to purchase appecare+.
So why Inspection requires opening photo app and change wallpaper?

You’d have to ask Apple.

The published guidelines indicate this unattended unlocked access should not happen.

“Always remain present while the technician has access to your device.”

You can discuss this with the store manager, or (probably better, given this is an Apple Authorized Service Provider) with Apple Corporate (use the 408 number or postal mail):

Yes, it is possible they will do that. Apple recommends you prepare your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch ready for service click here --> Prepare your iPhone or iPad for service - Apple Support

- "To protect your information and save time, follow these steps before you get service for your device."

In fact it is conceivable that a "repair" may mean you won't even get back your original device. It can be faster to simply return a different refurbished unit that does not have a problem.
