Apple Wallet keeps reverting to a canceled card

Wallet keeps reverting to a canceled card.

Twice now over a couple of months, the card in my apple wallet has reverted to the cancelled card from my bank.

i have a new one for the same account.

I add the new one and delete the old one and it works for a couple of weeks.

but out of nowhere (twice) it has reverted to the old card and I can’t make payments until I switch again

Apple cannot add or remove cards (tokens) from Apple Wallet. Only you and the issuing bank can add or remove a card. You can remove them individually via the method outlined above. You can also remove all cards by signing out of your Apple Account.

To add a card you must initiate the process whereby your bank and the payment network (Visa, Mastercard etc.) with verify you, your device and the payment method and then add the card to your Wallet. In theory the bank might be add the card, but I’ve never heard of that ever happening.

I suspect what’s going on is the bank is not removing the encrypted token that contains basic account information (DPAN). Apple cannot remove tokens. Please contact your bank’s support team and verify that they have removed all the old tokens.

Is the card actually in your Apple Wallet app? Please follow this path,

iPhone > Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay > scroll down and tap card > scroll down > Remove Card > restart iPhone

If the card is not in your Wallet app, is it on any other device such as iPad or Apple Watch?

What is being charged? Are they subscriptions or other recurring or scheduled payments?

The card is in my wallet app.

As I say - I have removed it - it just comes back to life.

No iPad, no Apple watch.

The new card is my default card and I have been using it for weeks in applepay. The old one has been cancelled for a couple of months. I just went to pay for something (bus journey) and it refused. I looked into it and the old one had replaced the new one out of nowhere so that's why the payment was declined.
