I tried all the suggested steps.
Mac is charging my iphone
using a thunderbolt to usb c adaprtor
iMac 24″

On your iPhone, which is hopefully using iOS 26.X, check Settings > Privacy & Security > Wired Accessories, and for the moment set it to “Always Allow”. Then reconnect your iPhone to your Mac.
