iPhone overheating, dim screen, SIGSEGV with carrier app

SIGSEGV error trying to access random memory while touching a graph and map in carrier app. Could have been ISP as it made my other device freeze. I have uninstalled one app but what should I do? I contacted ISP who told me to contact the other company. My phone got very hot, dialed the carrier by accident by touching a link, I forgot and i was in safari after, and the screen got very dim. My phone is hot now. I’m going to turn it off. Please note, on another platform os the isp has full control of flashlight. Is that why my phone is getting hot? Are there any developers that can assist with a solution. Thank you for reading.

Troubleshooting an Overheating iPhone:

Any Corrosion?

I am wondering if it is a corrosive battery. Have you recently had your battery replaced? If so, it may be faulty, you you should get it replaced and installed

by by Apple or an AASP.

Do you see any lumps on the iPhone? If so, it is corroding, and that makes this a health hazard. So, if corrosion is occurring, you should get this serviced, ASAP.

Contact Apple Support:

A. Contacting Apple Support:

B. Contacting an AASP:

Also, look into taking it to an AASP(Apple Authorized Service Provider) seeing if they offer service for this.

  1. Go Here: Find Locations - Apple Authorized Reseller
  2. Click: Service & Support
  3. Enter: your location information
  4. See: if there is an AASP nearby
  5. Contact: an AASP that shows up, and find out more about the services that they offer to fix the iPhone

"Yes, it is an Apple store app. I submitted a review, as for the ISP, i went in person, I called tech and was told to contact the other manufacturer. I did that and found a way to scroll using game booster settings. I emailed them as well and posted in the forum. Thank you."

Great job troubleshooting this!

Provide Apple using Apple's Feedback Portal: and provide them with the URL of this thread, so that they can overview this thread and learn from it.

In-depth:

Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing this app. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Clearing Space to Cool this Down:

Caches may have intensely uploaded. So, clear them.

Troubleshooting iPhone Storage:

Internal storage cannot be upgraded. It is what it is. So, the maximum internal storage capacity never increases, even if you upgraded your iCloud plan. Learn More here: What's the Difference Between Device Storage and iCloud Storage? Apple Support

"Thank you I will do that and my other device is hot as well. I’m assuming it’s the ISP the link in the app that opened up in browser asked me to translate in Danish. Must be the private dns or something i may not have set up correctly for WiFi. I’m using cellular for iPhone only. Screen keeps dimming. Thanks again."

You are most welcome.

What's the App? Report this to the Developer:

Not sure what this app is; but I, myself, only purchase apps from the App Store, and none other. So, once cooled down, remove this app (signing out, if necessary), and then see if you can get it from the App Store. App can have bugs installed overtime (which is what updates are all about). So, if you see this in the App Store > find the Developer's Contact Us link, and see if you can provide them feedback on this issue.

SIGSEGV (segment violation) means that a program tried to make an illegal access to memory – to an address which wasn't valid within its process space, or, perhaps, a non-word-aligned access in the case of instructions where word alignment is required.

It generally indicates the presence of a bug in the application, and I would not think that it would be the cause of excessive heating of a phone.

The only developers who are really in a position to fix the SIGSEGV problem are the ones who are in charge of the buggy code. The rest of us are not in a position to easily see or debug the code – especially in the case of closed-source commercial apps.

"In fact, i just got the battery replaced apple certified, too. It plausibly could be hardware battery. It has to be a hardware issue as the screen dims and will not work properly unless using dark mode. Things cool down then."

Get an Authentic Battery:

Then, it a faulty or unauthentic battery. So, take this to Apple or an AASP to get it replaced (preferably Apple).

Clear the Caches:

Clear the data called System Data. It basically contains caches --all of which re created overtime so that the iPhone works in a more optimal fashion, proving ease of use from remembrance of usage. Use my User Tip: How to Clear "System Data" in your iPhone's Storage: - User Tip

Sure thing.

Two more things to consider.

A. Clear the Caches of your iPad:

As for you iPad, you should clear the caches, as well. That is perform using the same methods I've mentioned in my User Tip: How to Clear "System Data" in your iPhone's Storage: - User Tip

and...

B. Clear the Cached of your Mac:

This takes a bit of patience. So, back up the Mac up with a Time Machine Backup (emphasized on my User Tip): How to Use Finder to Clear “System Data" on a Mac - User Tip

All the best.

"The phone was given to me for a present. I don’t need a phone; i want one though; one that works. However, nothing is perfect so I can learn and hopefully the apps will fix their issues."

Using an iPhone Without a SIM or eSIM Card:

Set this iPhone up with a WiFi connection, and you should be able to use it for things such as Two-Factor Authentication --something Apple provides (but not on all locations/regions), along with other sites like email providers and banks.
