iPhone 14 WhatsApp shows 'connecting', delays messages

I have iPhone 14 with ios 26 updated on it

Recently for last few months I noticed whenever I open what’s all it is showing connecting and after a few very long seconds the messages are shown up even if only one message is waiting for me and I haven't closed the app. At the same time, the notifications from WhatsApp are updating normally.

background app refresh is turned on and reduced the number of messages in what’s app. It happens only in what’s app and not in other apps

can someone suggest what can be done for it.
