New iPhone: me.com email login error

Hi

I have just upgraded from IPhone 12 Pro Max to Air.

I’ve had a me.com email for years and it’s my main email for work and professional contacts.

This is NOT my primary on apple account.

I have signed into all my other emails ok but the me.com says the account is mine or the password is incorrect. It’s not.

So this is something to do with it being a me.com address and the way my accounts are situated but I don’t understand.

I know MobileMe was shut down but I’ve always been able to change my password and use the email address.

Right now I can’t add this important address to my new phone.

I’ve read other threads about this being my iCloud address but that isn’t working as they’re different and I don’t receive my me.com mails through that account.

There’s something I don’t understand here.

Its as if the account exists and recognises it but I don’t have a Mail account in Mail app

Ok so I think I know.

I used to have a Mac.com email address and it was my ID for years. It seems my me.com email belonged to that ID.

I had it for years and changed my ID a couple of years ago but my me.com email just stayed on my phone but it’s not under my newer ID when I check.

The me.com address is now not linked to my newer ID even though I’ve got the email account on my older phone.

So I guess I can’t use this new email with brand new phone unless I’m signed in with old Mac.com ID?

Can anyone confirm?

Crazy I can’t use this email account.

Its the one everyone in my business knows me on and will be madness if I can’t access it.

OK can anyone from support help me. I’m getting a bit annoyed with this.

I’ve requested a reset password.

twice now I’ve been told I’d get a text or phone call on a certain date and it keeps getting pushed back time after time.

I’m trying to migrate and I’ve got two phones because you can’t sort out a simple password reset.

I understand security but don’t tell me a date and time and then say it’s going to be another 4 days. It’s irritating and if it persists I’ll send my new iPhone back and go somewhere else. I’m sick of the lack of support and the time wasting when you promise a date.
