How to fix 'Text Edit Not Responding' on iMac?

How to get Text Edit to work in Ventura OS, I get the Text Edit Not Responding message. I've force quit it, then restarted my iMac, then force quit, shut it down, then started again, nothing will get it to open. What can I do?

Quit it, choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide ~/Library/Containers/ as the path, and move the TextEdit folder inside to the desktop. This will reset its preferences.

Not sure what you mean by moving it "inside" to the desktop. I've found the Text Edit folder, but not sure what to do with it.

I think I know now, you mean the TE folder, that's inside the Containers folder, and move it to the desktop. Will that mean any text files already open, won't remain open? Will resetting the preferences just open without any of them open?
