The support article Change your Apple Account primary email address - Apple Support outlines various methods for changing the email address (Apple ID) you use for your Apple Account while retaining everything in your account. If you have an iPhone or iPad running iOS 18 or newer, read the support article for instructions how to do this.

If you have an older iOS/iPadOS, Apple no longer provides the instructions for that, but here they are:

1. Go to Settings, then tap your name.

2. Tap Sign In & Security.

3. Next to Email & Phone Numbers, tap Edit.

4. Tap the red Remove button next to the email address, then tap Delete.

5. Tap Choose Another Email Address and enter your device passcode if asked.

6. Enter the new email address, then tap Continue.

7. Enter the verification code that was sent to your new email address. Read this support article to learn what to do if you didn’t get the email —> If you didn’t receive your Apple Account verification or password reset email - Apple Support

8. If you encounter issues with certain services after doing this, this outdated support article may still have useful suggestions --> What to do after you change your Apple ID or password - Apple Support

If you mean a notification email address, refer to: About your Apple Account email addresses - Apple Support

Add or change a rescue [for most people called a notification address] email address

1. Sign in to https://account.apple.com .

2. Select Sign-In and Security.

3. Select Rescue Email. You might be asked to answer one or more security questions or enter your Apple ID password before you continue.

4. To add a rescue email address, select Add email. Then enter your rescue email address, then select Save changes. We send a verification to that address.

5. To change a rescue email address, enter the new address. We send a verification to that address.

6. Enter the verification code and click Continue.

If at any stage you don't get an expected verification see: If you didn’t receive your Apple Account verification or password reset email - Apple Support

If you had a rescue email address on file when you upgraded to two-factor authentication or two-step verification, that email becomes your notification email. You can also use these steps to edit your notification email address. If you remove the notification email, you won't be able to add a new one.

Sorry, it's not very clear what you want to do.

Are you looking other change the email address associated with an Apple ID?

Are you simply looking to remove an email address from the Mail app on an Apple device?

Are you looking to erase the Apple account entirely?

Are you referring to an iCloud email address? Or a third party email address?

Please provide details and context and someone may be able to advise.

thanks for info but the bug was apple that was always asking to send a verification code to my old closed email adress.

Issue was solved on the phone with an agent

Thanks again

Apple does not send codes to email addresses at all.

Are you sure it's sending a code to an email address? Are you sure it's Apple?

Apple sends Two-Factor Authentication codes to trusted devices or to trusted phone numbers as SMS messages or voice calls.

What exactly is it saying?

Can you post the message without any personal info?
