Updating an iPhone 16:

When it comes to updating an iPhone 16, only the lasted-available update (iOS 26.2.1, as of this reply) will install. You cannot install this particular update.

How to Update Other than on the iOS itself:

You can update using a Computer or though Cellular. With a Computer, you can use Ethernet; connect your computer to Ethernet, using an adapter (if required). As for Cellular, make sure you have to services to do so, as you'll be consuming lots of data.

Back Up First:

IMPORTANT: If you have an option to update, however, then be certain you backup your iPhone first. That way, you will have something to restore your iPhone from should anything go wrong with the update.

Wait and see if Apple fixes the problem.

From what I've seen in other threads, it sounds like some of the iOS/iPadOS 12, 15, 16, 18, and 26 updates that Apple released on January 26, 2026 had problems, and have now been temporarily pulled.

A fix for what?
