"Widely reported in Apple media, 9 to 5 Mac, MacRumors, Apple Insider and several others have all reported it. However, all except one or two have been updated and should download and verify. The previously downloaded version must be deleted, iPhone restarted, and new signed version should download and verify as expected."

"From what I've seen in other threads, it sounds like some of the iOS/iPadOS 12, 15, 16, 18, and 26 updates that Apple released on January 26, 2026 had problems, and have now been temporarily pulled."

Apple Pulling Updates:
What are your the sources of that occurrence?

Posts by other senior contributors to this forum (who have a history of posting accurate answers, AFAIK), saying that Apple has unsigned some of those updates – since backed up by the MacRumors article.

A current update to that article says that 'Apple is once again signing iOS 12.5.8, iOS 15.8.6, and iOS 18.7.4" but that "iOS 16.7.13 remains unsigned, suggesting Apple has determined the issue is limited to only that release."

Thank you for clarifying that.

Update 16.7.13 would not verify for an install after downloading and my hsbc banking app would not work.

I deleted the banking app and reinstalled it from the app shop. That did not work .

It appeared that the mere downloading of the update screwed up the app.

So I deleted the hsbc app from my ipad and the deleted the update download.

with my ipad back to 16.7.12 I reinstalled the banking app and all worked perfectly.

So, what’s the issue here? How have you troubleshot this, yourself.

Updating an iPhone 16:

When it comes to updating an iPhone 16, only the lasted-available update (iOS 26.2.1, as of this reply) will install. You cannot install this particular update.

How to Update Other than on the iOS itself:

You can update using a Computer or though Cellular. With a Computer, you can use Ethernet; connect your computer to Ethernet, using an adapter (if required). As for Cellular, make sure you have to services to do so, as you'll be consuming lots of data.

See my User Tips:

Back Up First:

IMPORTANT: If you have an option to update, however, then be certain you backup your iPhone first. That way, you will have something to restore your iPhone from should anything go wrong with the update.
