How to activate my Apple ID?

I recently logged out of my old Apple ID on my iPhone 13 to log into my new one, and now the phone has been asking me to sign in. But every time I input my password, it says “Verification Failed.” What do I do?

iPhone 13, iOS 26

Two things to note. Your WiFi is weak and your device says SOS at the top which I am guessing could mean you have no cellular service. Use SOS to contact emergency services on your iPhone - Apple Support

A "Verification Failed" message is used in various contexts which could be either a communication issue, or a problem with your account or a payment method.

Use the document Add a payment method to your Apple Account - Apple Support to review your payment methods such as credit or debit cards. Problem methods will usually have a notice in red lettering below them. The article If your payment method is declined in the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support has some information about declined payment methods as well as a link at the end for contacting Apple about payment issues.

If you can't connect or sign in to iCloud, read this support article --> If you can't connect or sign in to iCloud - Apple Support

If using cellular data, try using WiFi instead —> Connect to Wi-Fi on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

"Verification Failed This Apple ID is not active" --> According to Apple Community Specialist Brittany1416 in thread Inactive Apple ID - Apple Community , please contact Apple Support for help with an "inactive" Apple ID.

"Verification Failed An unknown error occurred. --> contact Apple to verify if this is the case:

You can reach Apple Support using this link --> Contact - Official Apple Support

or by telephone at one of the numbers in this support article --> Contact Apple Support - Apple Support
