When setting up my new iPhone 16 my Apple account email and password was requested,
I entered the information previously and currently used on my I mac.
The verification failed.
To be sure I re-entered the numbers on my mac which opened correctly

After much confusion I found that My password for 'apple.com.' was not the same as for 'apple account'. The clue was a message to change the password for Apple Account. This taught me a lesson and freed up my Iphone set up!
