The "New" Pixelmator Pro free trial

So I downloaded the "new" Pixelmator Pro from the Mac App Store. Luckily it installs beside the old Pixelmator Pro. In any case, when you launch it, you're asked to accept a free trial of the Creator Studio. If you close that dialog, you're asked whether you want to create a new document or browse for an existing one. However, even if you try to create a new document, or try to open an existing one by double-clicking, you end up back at the request a free trial. And I have not found a way past that. I do not want a free trial. I want to continue to use what I have available for free, like what I already paid for before Apple took over. How do I get past that?

Apparently I misunderstood what I was reading. I just talked to Apple Technical Support. If I want to use the new Pixelmator Pro, I have to subscribe to Creative Studio. She did say that just before this combination "offer" came along, Apple's version of Pixelmator Pro was by subscription only, regardless of whether you had the original version. I'll use my old, classic, version of Pixelmator Pro for as long as it works and then probably look for something else. I have no need for the Creative Studio with what little I do in that area. Really not pleased with the direction Apple is going. I will be sending feedback to Apple.
