Tahoe 26.2 Column view expansion tab button covered by navigation bar issue?

So I am hoping that Apple is aware that in Tahoe 26.2, the navigation bar covers the expand tab at the bottom, so when you attempt to expand out the column, the nav bar is engaged and the button will not operate as it should. The nav bar needs to be placed UNDER those expand tabs.

You can see here clearly, the nav bar covering the expand tabs, which I need to be able to see long file names. In order to fix this, I have to enlarge the window enough so that the navigation bar disappears, and THEN the expansion buttons are usable! I can only do this because I have a big screen with lots of real-estate to work with, but when I am on the road, my little 16inch screen on my MBP isn't going to cut it. What am I missing here? Is there a control click that will let me make use of the expand buttons when the nav bar is active? What I really need is that nav bar to not be there at all!

A close up of what I am talking about, try clicking that button through the nav bar! Doesn't work! I tried option/comman/control clicking there, nothing works, please fix or I hope this fix is in the works.

THERE it is! That's the ticket, although for me, setting it to "When scrolling" fixed the issue, sets the cursor to act as it would when a mouse is connected. When it's set to always, the scroll bar acts the same way that is not working for me with the Wacom.

Update, turned off the mouse, the previous state was moved back, so, this has to do with my Wacom and what state the system is in. Plot thickens.
You have to turn off showing the scroll bar "always" to be able to drag the divider anywhere. It's in the Appearance System Settings.

Thank you Barney-15E, that helps, and how obscure a setting is that to know about?!?

Well, I didn't discover it. It has been posted on other similar threads. I would have linked to it, but couldn't find it, as I can rarely find anything I remember seeing here.

Did you try setting the Path and Status Bars to Hide? Or maybe you prefer that they're visible? Anyway, if you do that then the nav bar stays below the expand tabs for good, even if "Always show scroll bars" is checked.

Yea, I can't live without my Status Bar, love knowing how much space is available on any given drive. But that is a fair point. Anyhoo, between the set to column view fit to title and set to behaves when mouse is attached, we can call this problem solved. :)

I had the same issue. Your comment about checking 'Resize columns to fit filenames' was helpful. It might be a bit hit and miss though because...

...the new Resize columns to fit filenames option, which unfortunately only considers the filenames that are currently in view, not all the ones in the folder.

Until the bug is resolved hiding both the Path Bar and Status Bar via the View menu should fix it. More info at the link above.

To make sure Apple is aware, report it to them. Bugs can be reported to Apple here:

To solve your current issue, simply position the cursor anywhere along the vertical line between columns and the pointer changes to a column adjustment cursor that you can click and drag left or right to resize the column. It doesn't show up in a screenshot, so here's an iPhone image:

Sadly, for me, this does not happen, I do not get that option of a mouse slider control in between columns. I'd LOVE it if it did that! Not on my system. I need to see if a different mouse solves this issue. AND it now works! This is super odd, I use a Wacom art pad as my mouse, and that slider option was not clicking in. I linked my wireless apple mouse, you know, the one with the charging port on the bottom, and it worked for that mouse, I switch back to the Wacom, and now it works for the Wacom! Odd bugs! I still would like the Nav bar slider thing to work independently, I will report to Apple about it.

So I get one state with the Apple mouse, as you pointed out, and I get this other, not so great state with the Wacom art pad. However, the Apple mouse state still works fine when the Wacom is still engaged. So if I want the state that works great, I need to keep the mouse blue-toothed to the system at all times. There is nothing I can find that toggles between folder actions based on the input device you use. What a strange quirk. Any idea on how to tell the system NOT to switch states based on the input device you are using?

Well I'm never gonna forget it now! It's such an oddly specific thing that needs a setting, as I was in this situation going, there has to be a setting for this somewhere, I just have no clue where to look! And then did you see the setting below it? Another random oh hey, this might be useful setting!
