iMac stuck at login, mouse and keyboard unresponsive

How do i fix my imac that’s stuck on the login screen. My mouse is stuck in the corner of the screen and i can’t move it. My keyboard won’t work either

You can get the exact model of the iMac by entering the system serial number on the Apple check coverage page here, but please do not post the serial number on the forum since it is considered personal information:

It’s just my mouse and keyboard will not work on the login screen but will work on the reboot screen and other screens.

My guess is the internal HD is having problems or the file system is damaged. Have you tried running Disk Utility First Aid on the drive while booted into Recovery Mode?

Try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected.


Try booting into Safe Mode to see if that makes any difference.

i don’t know which year model it is because it’s my brother and we don’t have the package anymore. I have a wired keyboard and a mouse i got 2 years ago . The keyboard and mouse works completely fine btw, i tested it out on a separate device. It’s just my mouse and keyboard will not work on the login screen but will work on the reboot screen and other screens.
