Can apps be moved into custom categories on iMac?
Can I move apps (i.e., icons) into different categories (Productivity, Creative, Social, etc) of _my choosing?
Just upgraded to Tahoe 26.2 on an iMac
iMac 24″, macOS 12.6

Not in the Apps app. You can create your own folders and drag the apps into those category folders. Add them all to one folder and put that folder in the Dock.

I think either. If you create one "Apps" folder and inside of that create your "category" named folders, you would put the app aliases into those folders. Then, drag the "Apps" folder to the Dock.
Let's try only Tahoe 26.2 first. I can make aliases & put them into a folder. Next I need to put that folder (or its contents) into one of the category folders (categories?).
OR: add my one folder of aliases to the dock.
I like the second option. How do I add a folder to the Dock? Perhaps I should ask, _where_ is the Dock folder?
There are apparently many replacements for the launchpad in the App Store and out of the App Store.
Once upon a long time ago I did jsut that -- made my own app folder. Guess I'll do it again. This one is simply not functional.
