Playback issue

Hisence smart TV configured with home WiFi network. Works fine. Problem appears when AppleTV 4K box that is configured to use the same network is connected to the TV via HDMI cable.

When using native Amazon fireTV OS things still work fine, but when switched to Apple tvOS 26.2 problems appear.Specifically when switching to another video clip in YouTube, the first frame of that video appears, then the screen goes blank for a fraction of the second, after which the video starts playing. Massively annoying. What to do?

Check if your Apple TV is configured to match frame rate and/or dynamic range. Turn that off, and YouTube shouldn’t do the short blackout anymore.

This is caused by the change in video properties of the HDMI signal, not the streaming box per se. All but the newer high end TVs suffer from this. TVs that support Quick Media Switching (QMS) are able to adapt within the time of one frame. Other TVs would benefit from keeping a constant frame rate and/or dynamic range, in this regard.
