Have owned all iPhones in Australia since 2008 and have to say cellular performance is degraded significantly on 16 Pro Max.
In the spirit of wanting to learn more and be open to a solution, is there anything that anyone has done, aside from purchasing a new phone, that has resolved this issue?

I’m not in Australia, so these comments may be less relevant. I’ve had a 16 Pro Max since September 2024. My spouse is currently using it and neither of us have had any major cellular issues. We live in an urban area of Florida and 5G and 5G+ are readily available throughout our region.
Have you talked to your cellular service provider? If so, what have they said? Under what conditions are you using your iPhone? Is service available or is it spotty throughout your region? Have you taken your device to Apple or an authorized service provider? Is your devices firmware and software updated by the carrier?
