Logic 12 - Update and App Store Authentication issue

I have just downloaded the new Logic Pro 12. But, when I launch the app, it just says that my App Store authentication failed and it makes me either go to the App Store or quit the app. I can't use it! I am logged into the App Store and I updated it through the App Store.

I have never had this issue with any app before.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 26.1

I fixed it. I have 2 different Apple IDs. From the beginning, I wasn't sure which email I wanted to use for my Apple ID. I ended up starting two different ones. I logged out of one and into the other and now my Logic works.

However! The weird thing is that both my Apple IDs are part of my family plan so it shouldn't matter anyway. Apple needs to fix that.

Same issue here and for me, as Emoccio said, the issue seems to be associated with my Apple ID. I have two and was signed in to the App Store with a different ID to the one I used to purchase Logic Pro originally. I signed out (Store > Sign Out) and the App Store then seemed to default to my other Apple ID where I could see Logic Pro Listed as one of my previous purchases. I opened the app from there and it finally launched.

We are a college using Logic and have this problem. Have been told by Apple that this is a known issue and is how Logic is communicating with School Manager or Business Manager for multiple devices.

This has brought our whole department to a standstill with students desperately needing to get exam work done!!

Come on Apple this is just not right!!!!!

My wife bought Logic pro years ago with her apple account but we have the family sharing plan; is this something that is an intentional change to force users to buy the software per user? Otherwise, if I login to the App store under her credentials on my mac mini, Apple might block me from logging into my own apple account for 90 days as it did one time when I was trying to get Apple tv + to work!

It is annoying because I have another app that needs me to be logged into my other Apple ID for the AppStore in order to use.

I have been on a family plan since the beginning and this is annoying. I understand that I should have just used one Apple ID but having a family plan means these things should be resolved.

I wish I could just fully merge the two Apple IDs but I am not sure that a full merge is possible.

I can’t even use Apple Music on my other ID even though it is part of my family plan.

I have just encountered this problem on one of my network MacBooks when updating to Logic Pro 12. As we roll these apps out using the Volume Purchasing Program, I am unable to login to the App store and fix it the traditional way. We can't be the only VPP users suffering with this problem though so I'd love to know what other organizations are doing.

Luckily, the other 40 devices haven't rolled out the update yet and I have now turned auto-updating off. I do hope Apple provides a fix soon as this is going to be a massive headache otherwise.
