Will I be charged for a small scratch on iPhone 17 Pro Max after an accidental drop?

Is it not your own phone?

Are you borrowing it or leasing it?

Seems like there is some context missing here.

Unless you are beholden to return it in perfect condition or something to get a deposit back for instance, nobody is going to charge you for a scratch.

Apple won't repair or replace it though if it's just a minor issue with cosmetic damage either of that is what you are thinking.

If the above is not the case, then you would need to explain why you think someone may charge you.

Who would you think would charge you for scratching your own phone? You'll have to live with the scratch, however. And it could reduce the trade value of the phone at trade time. If you were hoping Apple would fix or replace the phone, they won't. Cosmetic issues are not covered under warranty.

The store would have to decide if they want to charge you. We have no way of knowing what their policy might be. Some stores might just consider it part of having a display model. Others might be more strict. It sounds like this isn't even an Apple Store so we really, really have no idea how your store will react.
