Hello Jiveby!
I saw your post and wanted to share a fix that worked for a similar issue after the iPadOS 18 update. It seems the new 'Multilingual' keyboard feature sometimes confuses the physical Magic Keyboard.
Try these two steps in order:
- Check the 'Hardware Keyboard' Menu (Crucial): Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Hardware Keyboard. (Note: This menu only appears when the keyboard is physically attached). Tap on 'Swedish' at the top. Even if it looks correct, manually select 'Swedish' or 'Swedish - Pro' from the list instead of 'Automatic.'
- Separate the Keyboards: iPadOS 18 sometimes merges English and Swedish into one 'Multilingual' keyboard. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards. If you see 'English & Swedish' as one item, delete it. Then, tap 'Add New Keyboard' and add Swedish as its own standalone entry.
This usually forces the iPad to stop defaulting to the U.S. layout for the physical keys. Hope this helps you get your å, ä, and ö back!
Sincerely
-Lukas
