You'd be lucky if it was "only" the port that stopped working. Salt water is highly destructive of electronics, and that phone is likely "dead, but just doesn't know it yet."

P.S. - If the phone still works, and you have not backed up and/or synchronized your data to iCloud yet, the time to do this is now. Hopefully you can at least preserve your data, for restoration to your next phone.

best thing you can do is take your iphone to a genius bar/authorized service center to get it checked for any damage caused by the water.

You have destroyed your phone. It's only going to get worse.

iPhones are not waterproof and salt water will corrode any metal part it comes in contact with.
