Option to view photos in messages disappeared from all updated devices?

I just got an iPhone 17 pro max running on ios 26.2. When I go to my messages, I no longer have the option to view my photo gallery. The option has disappeared on my phone, ipad, and macbook. Is there a fix to this outside of syncing the message part in my iCloud settings? It’s such a pain to have to scroll and not be able to find photos easily.

You might want to check in the "Shared With You" Album in the Photos app.

See if your photos from Messages app (from people listed in your contacts) are stored there.

More info. in Apple Support's article (link below)

For iOS 26: Share content in Messages on iPhone - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"Find all the content someone shared with you

  1. Go to the Messages app  on your iPhone.
  2. Open the conversation whose content you want to see.
  3. Tap the contact or group icon at the top of the conversation.
  4. Swipe left, then tap Photos, Links, Documents, Locations, or Wallet.
  5. If a category doesn’t appear, you didn’t receive anything of that type in this conversation.

Note: Content only appears in Shared with You if the person who sent it is in your contacts.

You can find a Shared with You section in PhotosSafariMusicPodcasts, and other supported apps. I

f you don’t want items someone sends to you to appear in those other apps, tap the contact or group icon at the top of the conversation, tap Info, then turn off Shared with You."
