I was using Microsoft exchange email on apple mail , but After updating to Tahoe 26.2, my email automatically went offline and was not responding. I deleted the account and tired to re add it. but I am receiving this following error every time. "The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.accounts error 3.)"
However, it is working fine on my iPhone.
please help me how to resolve this issue.

You might want to try logging into that Microsoft email account from its website.
Sometimes the Settings change or update when improvements or changes are made to the account or the website.
Please check that Apple Mail is authorized for (ie: allowed access to) the account in the email account's settings.
Appears that in the short-term this is a Microsoft issue. Microsoft announced on 2/2 that EWS was going away in October of this year, but it seems they may have done something to disable it early for some. Apple's Mail app still uses EWS to connect to M365 while the iOS/iPadOS and Outlook do not. We submitted a ticket yesterday to Microsoft after noticing no EWS connections to our Microsoft 365 tenant took place after Sunday, 2/1. As of this morning (2/5) it is now working again for our customers. In the long-term, since EWS is being retired in October, Apple's Mail app for macOS will need to be updated to use the Graph APIs vs. EWS in order to continue functioning.
You're not alone. We've been experiencing the same issue across our institution. All Apple Mail customers have lost their ability to access M365 from macOS, but it is working fine on iPads and iPhones for now. The error message is always the same.
Unfortunately, we don't have a workaround or a fix yet.

done @ thank you brbo .. feedback form submitted. I hope we get a solution fast. its a pain reorganising web based outlook again. had been using Apple mail for years, I do not know why this problem occurred suddenly.
