Safari shows security warning on some websites – is this an Apple issue or site configuration?

Hi everyone,

I’m running into something odd in Safari on iOS/macOS. When I visit certain websites, Safari either shows a security warning or behaves differently compared to Chrome or Firefox.

For example, when I open this site in Safari:

I sometimes see loading issues or security-related messages, while other browsers work fine.

I’ve already tried clearing cache, disabling extensions, and checking date/time settings.

Is this typically caused by Safari’s stricter security policies (TLS, certificates, tracking prevention), or is it more likely a server-side configuration issue?

Any insight on what Safari specifically looks for would be really helpful. Thanks!

Typically, yes, but the more comprehensive answer is both. Safari requires strict adherence to accepted standards whereas many (most?) other browser products either ignore them or implement various lesser levels of acceptance.

Apple's approach to operating system security (app security, personal security... etc) borders on the maniacal. Imagine the public outcry if Apple were to simply ignore the implications of a website that failed to implement the latest security protocols. It would be financially devastating.

You mentioned Chrome. Google takes the polar opposite approach. They just want to harvest your personal information "by any means necessary" whether it be legal, illegal, immoral, etc. They don't care. When they are caught and fined millions of dollars, they just pay. Cost of doing business, and it's peanuts.

All major industry players advocated in favor of it.
