How do I remove an unauthorized ApplePay subscription and account?

A company has set up a subscription using my ApplePay account without my authority. I’ve since found out it is a scam. I can’t see the subscription in my Apple account. The card on my Applepay account has been cancelled by the bank now but I can’t remove it from ApplePay on my phone. How do I get off this rollercoaster of fraud.. I want ApplePay off my phone but it won’t let me.

I can’t say with 100% certainty, but hidden in the fine print the £2.36 was for a limited time trial and after the trial period it automatically converted to a subscription. It wouldn’t have mattered if you had used your card or Apple Pay. The end result would have been the same. Using Apple Pay, you hid your actual account details from the scammers.

As a last resort please review the instructions below,

Steps to Cancel via Apple Wallet (Preauthorized Payments):

Open the Wallet app on your iPhone > tap a credit or debit card > tap the More button (three dots in upper right corner of screen) > tap Preauthorized Payments > tap a merchant, then select Manage with (Merchant)to cancel on their site, or tap Revoke Payment Authorization.

It sounds like you directly subscribed via the companies website or an ad on social media (Facebook, Instagram etc.). Subscriptions are legal contracts and you must cancel the subscription directly with the company.

Apple Pay is a service, not an account. A payment method can be removed from your Apple Wallet app at anytime. Locate the card in your Wallet, tap the card, tap the 3 dots in the upper right corner of the screen, tap Card Details, scroll down, tap Remove Card.

It’s possible the card is associated with your Apple Account (Apple ID). I’ve linked to an Apple Support article on how to remove a payment method. If you have any active subscriptions on your Apple Account they will need to be canceled before the card can be removed.

I don’t think this involves Apple Pay. It might involve your Apple Account, two totally separate services.

See if you can locate the subscription following the instructions and links found in this Apple Support article.

The amount shown typically doesn’t reflect any state or local sales tax, so keep that in mind. If you can locate the subscription, you can cancel it following the articles links and instructions.

That's a great link.. thank you :o)

There was nothing on there from this company, not even the original transaction for £2.36 which was weird.

I think my details have somehow been passed on via Facebook and then they attempted to take another payment which my bank have blocked. I definitely used ApplePay for the original transaction - I thought it would be safer than a card.

I have now cancelled ALL of my subscriptions through Apple and have been able to finally delete that payment card. Now to go about re-subscribing for everything that was being paid for via Apple.

Thanks for your help :o)

It’s an un-ending spiral.

It was just a single purchase on Facebook - definitely not an ongoing subscription. I’ve emailed the Company and they say they don’t have a subscription with me so someone must be using their name and my ApplePay account. I can’t cancel the card on ApplePay because it says there’s an o/s subscription but I can’t find out who that subscription is with? How do I get out of this?
