iPhone won't back up to MacBook Pro; iOS 26.2; OS 26.2; no iphone icon in sidebar

iPhone won't back up to MacBook Pro after updating to iOS 26.2; Mac OS 26.2.

Done multiple device restarts. Tried multiple iphone to USB-C cables. (iPhone SE 2020) STILL, the iPhone will not show up in the sidebar. In the past, backups were reliable.

iPhone SE, iOS 26

Sidebar/ Locations. It was showing nothing. Eventually it turned out that it was possible to scroll to the right and an arrow for a list would appear. Connected devices were then displayed. No explanation as to why this odd interface option manifested - just that it must be 'user error'. It may or may not be consistent in the future.

Connected iPhone Not Showing Up on a Mac:

It's likely a lagging Mac, or the connection may not have been tight enough in the port.
