Disable iPhone verification for Apple Pay on MacBook

How do I stop Apple Pay on my MacBook (Tahoe 26.2) from requiring me to double-click on my iPhone to verify a purchase? I used to be able to use my fingerprint on my MacBook for that, but ever since the upgrade to Tahoe I have to use my iPhone to verify a purchase.

Apple Pay is set up on my iPhone, but I want to keep using my fingerprint on my MacBook.

I suspect not having 2FA on is preventing your Mac from operating without your iPhone. Please turn on 2FA on your Mac and restart both devices and try another transaction.

Do you have two factor authentication enabled on your MacBook? Do you use a VPN?
