Logic Pro 12: Tracks export function disabled after update

Logic Pro 12. Tracks export is disable

After updating to Logic Pro 12, the tracks export function no longer works. It's inactive. I don't know if this is just happening to me or if it's a major bug in this new version.

Mac Studio, macOS 26.2

Found the solution on a Facebook forum :)

In Logic Pro 11 and later (including your version 12), Apple consolidated the old "Advanced Tools" into a single toggle called "Enable Complete Features." If that tab is missing entirely, it usually means the app's preference file has become corrupted during the upgrade, or the window is physically rendering incorrectly.

Here is how to force those features back on and fix the greyed-out export:

1. The "Logic Pro Menu" Trick

Sometimes the Settings window itself glitches. Try this sequence:

Go to the main Logic Pro menu (top left of your screen).

Look for Settings (or Preferences in older versions).

If Advanced is missing from the sidebar/tabs of the window that pops up, try to access it directly via the menu: Logic Pro > Settings > Advanced.

If it appears, check the box Enable Complete Features.

2. Reset Logic's "Simplified" State

If the tab is truly gone, you can often "shock" it back into appearing by trashing the preference file. This won't delete your projects, but it will reset your custom window layouts and key commands.

Quit Logic Pro.

Open Finder, hold the Option key, and click Go in the top menu bar. Select Library.

Navigate to Library/Preferences.

Find the file com.apple.logic10.plist (Logic 11 and 12 still use the "10" naming convention for this file).

Move that file to your Desktop (as a backup).

Restart Logic. This forces Logic to rebuild the settings from scratch, which almost always restores the Advanced tab.

3. Check for "Control Surface" Interference

Strangely, certain MIDI controllers (like Nektar or Novation units) have been known to "lock" Logic's UI in a way that greys out export and transport functions.

Go to Logic Pro > Control Surfaces > Setup.

If you see any devices there, try deleting them temporarily.

Check if File > Export is still greyed out.

Why Export is Greyed Out

Even with Advanced features on, Export can be greyed out if:

No Region/Track is selected: Ensure you have clicked on the actual regions in the timeline.

Solo/Mute Conflict: If a track is soloed or muted in a specific way, the "Export All" option sometimes dims.

Cycle Mode: If the Yellow Cycle Bar is active but covers an empty area, Logic may think there is nothing to export.

Hope it helps you all too! Happy sunday :)
