Disabled iPad won't connect to MacBook Pro

My iPad is fairly old at least 10 years old. I tried to connect it to my current iBook I mean MacBook Pro and it's not letting me connect and it says it's disabled because I didn't know the password. I have an older Mac. I connected it to thinking, and that might recognize it, but it didn't work. How can I reset my iPad if I don't know the combination and now it's disabled.
