MAJOR BUG: Speaker Volume DEAD since iOS 26 (Persists in 26.2.1)

On iPhone 15, the volume buttons are completely dead during speakerphone calls. They work perfectly for Music, Games, and YouTube; but for the one thing this device is named for (A PHONE), they fail.

The Absurd "Fix":

I have to toggle the Mute button ON and OFF just to wake up the volume controls. Why do I need a cheat code to adjust volume on a premium phone?

I have tried everything:

  • Reset Network Settings
  • Reset Bluetooth
  • Restarts

• Updated to latest iOS 26.2.1

This bug has existed since the first beta of iOS 26. I have reported this dozens of times. Apple, stop focusing on new features when your device currently fails at basic call functionality. We are months into this. FIX IT.

You say "we" as if all of us are experiencing the same thing. The first public release of iOS 26 was back in September and you experienced it before that with the Beta. There is apparently something specific with your device or install that is causing the problem, otherwise these support pages would be filled with the same complaints and widely reported everywhere else.

Not sure why you mentioned resetting Bluetooth, does this have anything to do with a connected device?

There are 2 things that you can do now, the first is a Force Restart:

  • Press and quickly release Volume Up
  • Press and quickly release Volume Down
  • Press and HOLD side button until the Apple logo appears. This may take up to 15 seconds and you have to ignore anything else on the screen until you see the Apple logo. If you do not see it then you need to try again as it may take a couple of attempts to get the speed and sequence of the key presses correct.

and

Use a computer to reset your phone to Factory Settings and restore from a backup. Using a computer will allow the OS to be completely replaced which is not possible when doing the on device Factory reset.

Beyond that, you are headed towards a visit to the Apple Store for diagnostics. It seems to be easily reproducible for you so should not be too difficult to convey the problem to a technician.
