Sudden hairline crack on MacBook (M4) trackpad

Cracked trackpad on MacBook (M4) – suddenly appeared

Hello everyone,

My MacBook (M4), which I purchased on September 29th, 2025, suddenly developed a hairline crack on the trackpad on December 31st, 2025. A thin, curved hairline crack is visible near the edge of the trackpad. The surface glass is completely smooth and intact, and the crack cannot be felt by touch or fingernail.

The laptop is still almost new and has been used under normal conditions. There is no visible external damage, the battery health is 100%, and there are no warning or error messages. The device has not been dropped or subjected to pressure.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue, or does this look like a manufacturing defect? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Cracked Trackpad?

Perhaps this is a Faulty Device?:

A. How did that Happen? Just curious. If it was on its own, then you might have a corroding battery --that would likely mean this might bis a faulty device. If found to be the case, Apple would work on it at their own cost, and you wouldn't pay anything for for fix (but that is Apple's call).

B. As for Previous Occurrences:

On my 2017 MBP, the screen's connector between the LogicBoard and the screen became loose. I had to send it in 11 times until I got it replaced free of charge. Being so patient of a customer, and having troubleshot this with them for over 100 hours over-the-phone, I was granted a $2,500 USD upgrade for no more than the price of the AppleCare.

C. Finding the Official Cost:

Take this in for a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store. Bring a proof pf purchase with you. There, it would be diagnosed, and you'd be provided with a cost.
