MacBook Pro M2 and iMac: Repeated spinning wheel and freezes

Permanent spinning wheel with no visible patterns.

On both my MacBook Pro M2 and my iMac I repeatedly run into spinning wheel situations. Regularly and always for quite a while. Parts of the system are frozen then while others work normally. Then again the finder freezes only to be back after a couple of minutes. It is always something different having - often the entire system.

Even when idle the wheel shows up sometimes and telling me the finder is not responding.

Anyone with an idea?

Would anyone be able to have a look into my ExtreCheck report and find something possibly?

Appreciate any constructive feedback - thank you!

To trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

*** (if you are using a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries— connect the charging cable, this will make the wired keyboard successful Safe Boot your Mac.)

unplug all non-essential peripherals when testing

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

The place to check how much Free space you have is in Disk Utility (in Applications > Utilities), by selecting the main container disk below the drive itself (you may need to select View menu > Show all devices to see it). The behavior you describe often occurs with a nearly full drive.

It is possible there are processes running in the background that are using significant resources. Check Activity Monitor, CPU tab (sort by % CPU) and Memory tab (sort by Memory) to see what's running hard.
