White stains on the aluminium part

I have white stains on the aluminum part of my 14-inch MacBook Pro (M5), located near the Apple logo.

I would have Apple evaluate ...very soon.


Your aluminum outer shell is protected by a process called anodization. That's an electro-chemical process that creates a super-thin, hard coating of transparent aluminum oxide to resist minor nicks and scratches, as well as prevent treated surfaces from oxidizing and turning dull.


It is also why the Macbook Pro case has that "slick" feel. I retired from a company that made millions of anodized aluminum parts annually. You could close your eyes and still tell the ones already anodized from those not yet processed by feel alone. The four Macbook Pros in our house all have that classic anodized feel.


Many things like coffee, pop, water, etc that get on an anodized surface simply wipe off it caught in time. That is why your image showing a new computer concerns me as potentially an issue in the anodizing process. That is why Apple needs to assess it. Anodizing cannot be patched or repaired after leaving the anodizing facility.
