How do I charge the new Magic Mouse with USB-C on my 2019 iMac?

I just got a new Magic mouse. for my 2019 iMac, Sequoia 15.7.3 Uses USB-C?

My old mouse used a different cable to charge different from this USB-C. don't remember what that old cnnectionis called. Solid pin with connections on both sides?

I'm shocked it connected so fast.

Connected via Bluetooth. Now it says to charge the battery using Lighning port? What is that?

I'm lost.

The Magic Mouse 2015–2024 uses the Lightning port (before switching to USB-C). The Lightning port is different from USB-C and smaller. It is the same connector as iPhone 5–14 used. You will need a Lightning to USB cable to connect the mouse to a power adapter or computer for charging.

Depending on where you want to plug the other side of the cable into, you may need a Lightning to USB-A cable or Lightning to USB-C cable. Not sure if Apple still sells the former type, but other sellers would.

You have two Thunderbolt-3 ports on that 2019 iMac and each is also compatible with the cable that came with the USB-C Magic mouse. The other four ports on that Mac are USB-A.

Since you cannot use the mouse while it is charging, I suggest that you purchase Apple's 20W USB-C Power adapter, so you can charge the mouse while you sleep, without needing to keep that iMac on all night with higher electricity usage.

USB-C to Lightning Cable (1 m) - Apple Store online (US)

USB-C to Lightning Cable (2 m) - Apple Store online (US)

to connect an input device with Lightning port to a charging device with USB-C port.

USB-C Charge Cable (1 m, 60W max) - Apple Store online (US)

USB-C Charge Cable (2 m, 240W max) - Apple Store online (US)

to connect an input device with USB-C port to a charging device with USB-C port.

1 m and 2 m refers to the length in meters (~3.25 and ~6.5ft).

A USB-C to USB-C cable, plugged into one of your two USB-C (USB, DisplayPort, Thunderbolt 3) ports would work. So would a USB-A to USB-C cable (or equivalent), plugged into one of your four USB-A (USB) ports.

All that the mouse needs for charging is the 5V power that all USB-A and USB-C host ports provide. So even a "charging cable" that has only the 5V power pins connected would work.

There is no reason to involve Lightning at all, although technically, there probably are ways to make a USB-C to Lightning to USB-C connection.

Well I thought it solved my problem but after a few hours same trouble as my old magic mouse.

I contacted Apple support, would up getting a specialist. First we went to disk utilities and ran first aaid on every disk part tht was there from Fusion Drive right down the line. Then we re-installed the operating system. No change.

This morning something with Safari. Went to check financials and Safari would not let me log in to 3 sites. One site said sorry we're having problems, please try again later. (camething last night). Okay I have a backup. Went to Brave Browser and WALA logged right into all 3 sites.

I'm going to have to go back to my other posts about the iMac trouble. maybe re-run EtreCheck. I believe my last communication with that group mentioned fusion Drive slowely failing.

The support lady did send me 2 emails about other things to try. 1 Wipe the drive and reinstall from my time machine. 2 Think about buying a new iMac.this one is 2019. Sequoia 15.7.3 she told me last upgrade for the intel iMacs.

Thanks for all your help. I'm going to re-connect with Apple support.
