Logic Pro 12 not working with Apple School Manager! Apple come on fix this ASAP!

Our college computers automatically upgraded to Logic Pro 12. Since that night our whole Logic suite has not been able to function. Been told by Apple it is a fault with Logic communicating with Apple School Manager! It seems that Logic cannot access the stored license numbers! Apple cannot give any timeframe for a fix!

COME ON APPLE SORT THIS OUT, WE HAVE STUDENTs WHO DESPERATELY NEED TO GET ON WITH EXAM WORK AND YOU ARE PUTTING THEIR EXAMS AT RISK AS THEY ARE LOSING TIME! THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!

Anyone found a work around????

Hi all,

We seem to have a temporary fix for multi tenanted logins issue with Logic 12. Log the student into the Mac and start Logic. On the login option, use the institution's Logic licence credentials (App Store) to allow access to the licence. When Logic fully loads, log off the App Store account from System Settings. This will allow Logic to operate for that session. We are testing whether or not this setting will be remembered the next time that particular user re-logs in after any additional user logs onto that machine.

Same issue, not Apple School Manager but Apple Business Manager with VPP licenses, managed distribution through MDM (Jamf Pro). Two workarounds I've found: We had one iMac that hadn't auto-updated yet and still had the latest version of 11 (11.2.2) so used Jamf Composer to create a PKG of that an pushed it out to all with a policy. Turned off auto-updating the app to freeze them at 11.2.2. This is working for us until Apple gets it sorted. The other workaround. On computers with macOS Tahoe 26.2, fresh install of v12, launch it and when you get the pop-up to log in with Apple ID, drag it away off screen (don't enter anything) and then you can use v12 as expected. Confirmed this only works on Tahoe and not earlier versions of macOS. Not a long-term solution because when someone tries to log in, it breaks it again. We have multiple users on these computers so someone is bound to try logging in eventually. Rolling back to 11.2.2 has been solid for us for now.

Same here Rich, and waiting on apple support's investigation. We heard about the upcoming changing to licensing, the only way we got it working for one time, is logging with another appleid that has logic pro, but once you log out and back on its back to square one, luckily we have some other macs not on apple school manager yet with the old version - keeping fingers crossed this is solved very soon.

Yep got told today by Apple support that it is a known issue but could not be given a time frame of when it would be fixed! Got lots of GCSE students who now cannot complete coursework and other classes in the middle of projects that now can’t be worked on! It must be affecting so many education establishments worldwide! Will keep phoning Apple support each day! So frustrating!

We are in the same boat, no real feedback from Apple yet. We managed to get one iMac working but no others will allow us to use the same account details more than once. We can't confirm yet but it seems as though Apple are only allowing one instance of an account login per Logic purchase per device.

We also have a classroom not on Apple School Manager and running version 11 which allows us to let students to continue their course work but it is a timetabling challenge.

Any details on successful work arounds will be gratefully accepted. Even (or especially) from you, Tim. (Cook)
