Drag it back into the Trash from the Desktop and empty the trash.
This worked for me:
1. Close out of old version of Pages.
2. Go to Applications folder, find “Open in Finder” emblem (circle with arrow in it) and select it. Finder will open.
3. Select old version of page and drag to trash.
4. At prompt, enter administrator’s name and password.
Sounds like it's synced to iCloud.
You'll need to movie it off the Desktop first. Move it into the Applications Folder in Finder. This should make it download it and remove it from the iCloud synced Desktop folder. Then move its back into the trash and empty the trash.
You have to remove it through the App Store. Just open the App Store, navigate to your installed apps, select the version of Pages you want to remove, click on the three dots and select ‘Remove’. Done.
I tried everything suggested above and nothing worked. I couldn't find the old pages in the app store........ Then I went back and searched installed apps. I found it and deleted it! It is no longer on my desktop! Thanks!!!
when I try to do that I get this message:
The operation can’t be completed because “Pages” needs to be downloaded.
I tried that and got the same response
I can't get rid of old version 14.5 Cannot trash it. Cannot download older version.
Icon stuck on desktop. Annoying problem.
worked perfectly....thank you so much!

Good. But these discussions are NOT chats. Apple users volunteer their time to answer questions as they can.
