How to center the active typing line in Pages?
Is there a way to center the active line in pages? Right now, as I type it, it just runs to the bottom of the page instead of centering the active line.
MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.4

It is doing what Pages is designed to do, just as other word processing applications conduct entered text in a similar manner. There is no static, centered line from which all text is entered.

Then no. Then use Word. Pages was never developed as a Word clone and the differences in applications are enormous.
Yeah, this is unhelpful. You could just say no. In Word and other word processing apps they do have modes that center the active line on the screen instead of always writing to the bottom of the screen. If you have word count turned on it covers the text you are typing. If that is what it is designed to do that is poor design.
There is lots that I love about Pages. I think overall it is a better word processing app. I just was trying to figure out if it had that one feature, or a way to at least not have the text hidden at the bottom of the page behind the word count. Not sure why that would elicit a response of "don't use the app then." If somehow my question offended you, sorry. But I feel like this exchange missed the point. I am not here to put out negative energy, but it feels like it was received that way. So again, if the way I worded something, especially in my response to you, felt negative, I apologize. But thank you for taking the time to give an answer. I should have led with that in my first response.
Although one can press the cmd-key then click and drag that floating word count panel anywhere within the displayed document margins, it still gets in the way. You can show/hide that panel on-demand with the toggle shift+cmd+W which is the only way you can control its presence entirely.
