How do I use PDF files without subscribing with Adobe?
Using MacBook Pro w/ Tahoe 26.2.
I just cancelled my Adobe subscription AND I found the Adobe
platform nearly indecipherable to me for the light user that I am.
However, it seems there are extremely limited options when sharing
files.

As Grant Bennet-Alder states, preview is however the obvious built-in choice for all PDF viewing and basic PDF manipulation on the Mac. The Preview User Guide for Mac - Apple Support has some great information about how to make use of Preview's PDF features.

Your Mac comes with free included App 'Preview', with good ability to display, slightly mark up, and print PDF files, but NOT to do much editing.
"Form-filling" varies widely, depending on the source of your pdfs, but there are other pay app that can be used if needed.
