How to play Brilliance audiobook MP3-CDs on a new iMac?

I purchase Brilliance audiobooks MP3, CD and my new iMac does not recognize them. The CD/DVD burner is also new. I have looked at all the past comments, no help. I do have an HP laptop but rawly use it, so not sure how to burn CD/dvd on it. I have looked on Brilliance website their how to into CD is old.

Brilliance audiobooks are downloadable MP3 files. You should just be able to download them to your iMac and play them with the Music app or the QuickTime Player. No CD needed.

There is no need to burn them to CD unless you want them on a CD, in which case there are 2 different types of CDs you could burn - 1) a data CD containing MP3 files which would normally be used on another computer or 2) an audio CD (aka playable CD) that can be played in a CD player. If you want the audiobooks to be on CDs, what kind of CD do you want to end up with?

What make & model CD/DVD burner drive do you have? Is it connected directly to your iMac or are you using a USB hub of any kind?

To add a further wrinkle, some standalone CD, DVD, and Blu-Ray players that are meant for home stereo systems, cars, portable use, etc. have the ability to play audio files on data CDs – especially MP3 files.

The requirements for how you name these files, and name and organize directories, may vary among players – so should you go this route, you need to know what your player expects. (The upside is that if your files are in some lossy compressed format like MP3 or AAC, you might be able to store many hours worth of material on one disc – whereas with audio CDs, the limit is 74 - 80 minutes.)
